On request from the owner of the coal mine, Emile Caselli (1873 - 1961),
31 prominent and praiseworthy men from Limburg were immortalised,
in 1924, by the very talented Limburg-Brabant painter Jan Kruysen
(1874 - 1938) on the marl walls of a large museum hall, carved out for this
purpose. This gave rise to an impressive series of Limburgers; from
days gone by, indeed, but the names have not yet lost their wellknown ring. Later Jan Kruysen also painted the portrait of Emile Caselli.
The picture of Emile's son-in-law, J.H. Wijsbeek (1880 - 1965)
is also hanging up.
